The Shepherd's Hut is 40 min walk or 8 min drive from Bishops Castle, a vibey local town with great pubs, fun events, lots of live music and local shops to explore. In 2023 Bishops Castle was voted one of the best places to live in the UK by The Times Magazine.

Things to explore in the surrounding area:
Ludlow - historic market down with fantastic restaurants. Ludlow Castle is well worth a visit it was build in the 15th century and many of the ruins still stand.
Church Stretton - a small local town with lots of cafes and pubs. You can get to the long mynd from Church Stretton. There is a fresh water reservoir you can go swimming in and fantastic walks.
Montgomery- small market town with cute cafes run by locals. Above the town sits Montgomery Castle not as vast as Ludlow Castle but still impressive; it was build in the 14th century.
Stoksey Castle - a National Trust Manor House in great condition approx 20 min drive from the hut. We love Stoksey, it’s definitely unique and offers something different. It does take long to look around but if you enjoy history and ruins it’s worth a visit.
Walks
The Shropshire Way - The Shropshire Way Main Route is a long distance path of some 200 miles, covering not only the wonderful Shropshire Hills in the South but also some of the historic towns and unique natural features in the North of the county.The path links Shrewsbury with the historic towns and villages of Bishop's Castle, Clun, Ludlow, Much Wenlock, Ironbridge and Wellington.
